Who I Am

I'm David, the maker behind Atomic Rat Rods & Metal Werks. I've always been drawn to the raw beauty of metal — the way it can be shaped, cut, and finished into something that lasts a lifetime. What started as a passion for custom rat rods and fabrication work grew into a full creative practice: designing and cutting custom metal art, specialty tools, garden art, holiday items, and decorative pieces that carry real character.

How It's Made

Every piece in the shop begins as a design in CAD software, where I can dial in the details before a single spark flies. From there, the design goes to my CNC plasma table — a machine that uses a superheated plasma arc to cut through steel with precision. The result is clean lines, sharp detail, and edges that hold up outdoors and in.

After cutting, each piece is hand-finished — ground, cleaned, and treated or painted depending on the design. No two runs are exactly alike, and I stand behind every piece that ships.
